This policy explains what personal information Earn Media Pty Ltd ("we", "us") collects when you use Support Aussie Ideas — this website, the Support Aussie Ideas Facebook Page, and any newsletter or competition we run under that name — and how we handle it. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- On Facebook. When you interact with the Page — comments, reactions, poll answers, messages — Meta shows us that activity under the name on your Facebook profile. We use it to run trivia, leaderboards and competitions, answer messages and moderate comments. Leaderboards show Facebook display names only.
- Our software. We use Meta's Pages API through an app owned by Earn Media Pty Ltd to publish approved posts on the Page and to read engagement statistics for those posts. That app accesses Page data only, on our behalf; it does not collect information from your personal Facebook account.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and we act on it immediately.
- Competitions. If you win, we ask for the details needed to deliver the prize (name, contact, and a delivery address if it's physical). We keep those only as long as needed to award the prize and meet record-keeping obligations.
- Submissions. If you submit an Aussie idea or business for a feature, we keep what you send us and may publish it with your consent.
- This website. Standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages viewed). If we add analytics, they will be described here first.
Affiliate links and paid placements
Some links on our guides earn us a commission if you buy or book after clicking; the seller, not us, handles your purchase and your personal information under its own privacy policy. Featured placements that a business has paid for are labelled as such. We do not receive your personal information from affiliate partners beyond aggregate commission reports.
How we use and share information
We use personal information only to run Support Aussie Ideas: publishing content, running trivia and competitions, sending the newsletter to people who asked for it, and answering messages. We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate (for example our email-sending and hosting providers), with Meta as part of using its platform, and where the law requires. Some providers store data outside Australia; we choose providers that offer reasonable privacy protections.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing privacy [at] supportaussieideas [dot] com [dot] au. If you think we've mishandled your information, tell us the same way and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Data deletion
To have personal information we hold about you deleted — including anything obtained through Facebook — email privacy [at] supportaussieideas [dot] com [dot] au with the subject line "Data deletion request" and the Facebook name or email address the information is connected to.
We will confirm receipt, delete the information from our systems within 30 days, and confirm when it's done. Information we are legally required to keep (for example competition winner records) is kept only for the required period and then deleted.
To remove the connection between your Facebook account and any app we operate, go to Facebook → Settings → Apps and Websites, and remove it there.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and note the date above. Material changes are announced on the Facebook Page.
